22.7.2010: Should Ruthenians accept "cultural autonomy" from Kiev?
Through the Carpathian Mountain Range God established natural border between
different ethnic groups. A story about how Kiev timidly and in jest offers
Ruthenians "cultural autonomy",
but in reality does not want to provide it.
The proposal by some advisers to provide Ruthenians with "cultural autonomy" is in fact strange and vague. Why Kiev, for 20 years mocking the Ruthenians, subjecting them to ethnocide, discrimination with clear signs of genocide, offers today "cultural autonomy" to "survivors of the genocide", and even then only in words? The adoption of such a proposal-bait will likely further aggravate an already dead-end Ruthenian relationship with totalitarian Ukraine. We know that given the impact of modern media, the notion of "autonomous culture" today is untenable. Everyone today wears American jeans, eats "Bush legs", and listens to American music. What culture can oppose such brainwashing? Therefore, waiting for handouts from Kiev is essentially absurd. It is known that the results of the referendum on Dec. 1, 1991 revealed the political will of the region, but these results have not yet been implemented in the Constitution of Ukraine. Therefore, it is not Kiev that "gives" something to the Ruthenians, but the Ruthenians in their referendum on Dec. 1, 1991 agreed to give Ukraine a chance to create a new democratic state. However, Ukraine has once again demonstrated the lack of political vision: totalitarian non-democratic Ukraine with Nazi ideology of integral nationalism replaced the Soviet Bolshevik government! After all, Kiev authorities cannot be unaware that after the collapse of the USSR territory of the Ruthenians to the South of the Carpathians automatically regained its pre-Soviet status. It was Stalin, who "reunited" us, as well as the Baltic States and Galicia, with the USSR. However, according
to the ill-fated treaty of June 29, 1945 between the USSR
and Czechoslovakia about Transcarpathian Ukraine joining
the USSR, Subcarpathian Ruthenia (as highlighted in the treaty),
ceased to exist under the Constitution of the Czechoslovak
Republic. Ruthenians in 1991 had the opportunity and the
right to declare independence of the Subcarpathian Ruthenia-Transcarpathian
Ukraine. However, unfortunately, Ruthenians took a risk of
binding their political future with the new Ukraine. In fact,
Ruthenians agreed to a compromise solution with regard to
Ukraine, when abandoned their independence, and agreed to
become an autonomous part of it. Nevertheless, believing
Galician-Ukrainian nationalists and their promises, Ruthenians
received in return a cynical deception and re-annexation
of their land by Ukraine. It turned out as in a Ruthenian
saying: they lured little doggy on a chain with bread, and
then slapped it in the face.
There is only one consolation in this Ukrainian shareware totalitarian Comedy: Ruthenian people, who gained the right to self-determination 90 years ago, at any time can legally review their hasty decision, which they made in a referendum of Dec. 1, 1991, and no longer believe Nazis.
After all, not the Ruthenians created the Carpathians, but God, who erected a natural border between different ethnic groups.
