22.12.2009. Members of the Transcarpathian Regional Council on Dec. 22 voted
for the official text of the anthem of the Transcarpathian
region.
The new anthem of
Transcarpathia became famous poem of Alexander Dukhnovych "Subcarpathian
Ruthenians, arise from your deep slumber…”, which was once
the anthem of Subcarpathian Rus (46 deputies out
of 67 voted for it)
Subcarpathian Ruthenians,
Arise from your deep slumber.
The voice of the people calls you.
Do not forget your own.
Let our loving people live in freedom.
Let the storm of the enemy stay away from our nation.
Let the truth finally prevail in the Russian family.
The Ruthenian leaders wish that the Russian people would
live.
We all implore God high above to support the Ruthenians, and
give them better times.
Poem "Subcarpathian Ruthenians
..." was written in the middle of the XIX century. It was the anthem of Subcarpathian
Rus at a time.
The adoption of the anthem of the Transcarpathian
region was considered at several sessions of the Regional Council.
In August 7, during a meeting on 25th session, the deputies decided
to amend the previous decision “On the anthem of Transcarpathia“.
Under the changes, the previous deadline of the contest on the
words and music of the anthem has been extended until November
30, 2009 (the previous deadline was the 1st of September, according
to the decision of February 27).
The contest was held in accordance with the Regulations on the
conduct of regional competition for the creation of words and
music of the future anthem of Transcarpathia, which was approved
by a peer group.
The aim of the contest was the selection for
the approval by the Regional Council of the anthem of Transcarpathia,
which reflects the history of the region, spiritual aspirations
of Transcarpathians, and their desire to live in an independent
state.
