Ukraine has its first prisoner of conscience - an Orthodox priest from Transcarpathia Dimytry Sydor - the spiritual leader of a small Ruthenian people.

alt(en) ASR I Mr.Tymoshenko and Mr.Danylyshyn that have questionable reputation in the Ukraine politicians and businessmen in politics, without any problems in the Czech received political asylum. But the trial of a man, it is questionable accused Ukraine of separatism and fighting for the autonomy of the former Czechoslovak enclave  Subcarpathian Rus here prefer not to mention. Misadventures of Fr.Dimytry began in 2008 under former President of Ukraine Yushchenko. Then, at the 2nd European Congress of Ruthenians in Uzhgorod was adopted a memorandum on the restoration of Ruthenian AUTONOMOUS State as PART OF Ukraine. Following this collective decision of the Ruthenians, the Secret Services of Ukraine almost immediately instituted against Fr.Dimytry criminal case.

Political trial against the leader of the Ruthenian movement turns it into a national liberation movement!

Demonstration in Prague in support of father Dimitry Sidor(en) ASR I Political trial against the Ruthenian cleric had turned into fiasco, but the prosecutor demanded custodial restraint of the defendant for a term of three years, although conditional, as required by his clients! Demonstration in Prague in support of Father Dimytry Sydor (photo on the right).
On February 20, in the court of primary jurisdiction took place regular hearing of the theatrical political trial against the Ruthenian spiritual leader, Father Dimytry Sydor. It has begun with legal debate. Statement by the prosecutor was frankly weak, - word for word, he mumbled initial "indictment", completely ignoring the conclusions of the three-year trial - as if it had never taken place. The prosecutor asked the court of a conditional sentence for Father Dimytry for three years - suspended for three years.

Vasily Dzhugan: Ruthenians do not give up!

Vasily Dzhugan & Zuzka Bebarova, deputy of Czech Parliament(en) ASR I One of the leaders of the Ruthenian movement, the chairman of the World Council of Subcarpathian Ruthenians Vasily Mikhailovich Dzhugan spoke about the challenges the Ruthenians face.

- Vasily Mikhailovich, how recent decisions of international Ruthenian forums aimed at implementing the results of the Transcarpathian Regional referendum of December 1, 1991, will affect final solution of the Ruthenian question?

- Ruthenian people face the objective - ultimately transfer implementation of the results of the Transcarpathian Regional referendum of the 1 December 1991 in a public and legal sphere.
In the present situation "Ukrainian government," supposedly "on behalf of the people," arrogated to itself the right to punish those who demand implementation of the results of the Transcarpathian Regional referendum of 1 December 1991, although the people did not empower "Ukrainian Powers" to do so. On the contrary, almost every year, at least two or three times

Open letter of appeal to the leadership of the WCR

(en) (pl) (sk) WCSR I

Dear Chairman of the World Congress of Ruthenians Dura Papuga, a week had passed since the end of the
11th WCR that took place near Budapest. So far the results of the forum were not officially published, in particular resolution of the 11th WCR. Instead of distinct, clear decisions and results of the congress, adopted by the delegates, are published rumours, speculations, and even frankly provocative material of foes of the Ruthenian movement and saboteurs of Ruthenian objectives throughout the world.

Open letter of appeal to the delegates and participants of the 11th World Congress of the Ruthenians.

(en) WCSR I  Resolution of the World Council (Svitova Rada) of Subcarpathian Ruthenians. Uzhgorod June 5, 2011. In anticipation of the 11th World Congress of the Ruthenians, which will take place in Budapest, the World Council of Subcarpathian Ruthenians adopted an Open letter of appeal to the delegates and participants of the 11th World Congress of the Ruthenians. From the time of the previous 10th Ruthenian Congress, Ruthenian movement has passed difficult and crucial stage of its development. We have managed to combine and significantly expand a very wide range of constructive social forces, based on the values of patriotism, love for one’s native land and the people, in order to achieve the ultimate goal - establishment of independent parent sovereign state, common for all Ruthenians scattered in the world.

Carpathian Ruthenia or a new neighbour on the horizon?

(en) & (sk) Michal Ondrejčík

So looks today the Subcarpathian Rus in the eyes of some Czechs and Slovaks Tak vypadá dnes Podkarpatska Rus v očích některých Čechů a SlovákůIn the following lines I shall speak of a republic which strives to compete with Ukrainian power in the Zakarpattia Oblast. The reason for its origin is the fact that since 1991 Ukraine has been ignoring the requests of Carpathian Rusyns, who supported the status of a special self-governing administrative territory in the 1991 referendum by 78.2 percent of votes. This autonomy of Carpathian Rusyns has remained unrealized until present time. Following many attempts to negotiations with Ukrainian representatives, on 1 December, 2008, Rusyn activists decided to declare the restoration of pre-Soviet status of the Republic of Carpathian Ruthenia because according to Rusyn representatives, Czechoslovakia doesn't exist any longer, and the only way to realize this status is the declaration of an independent sovereign state, namely the Republic of Carpathian Ruthenia.
